Administration Division
Deputy Chief Jody O'Guinn

The City of Alton is an exciting historical city with a growing, vibrant population. From a public safety perspective, this is a great time to live here. Crime has declined substantially and citizen confidence in the Police Department is high. Moreover, the cooperative working relationship between police officers and the people we serve is the strongest it has ever been.
Through our Weed & Seed initiative we strive to build partnerships with the community while aggressively addressing crime at it's roots. It is clear that a solid community partnership with police is the most effective way of securing our communities, making them safer for all of us.
The department strives to remain actively involved with the community we serve. In addition to our community outreach efforts such as Neighborhood Watch, DARE, and numerous other programs, we maintain an active Law Enforcement Explorer Program.
In an attempt to develop a relationship of mutual trust and respect with our community, we have adopted a mission, which is committed to treating all people fairly while supporting an environment where diverse social, cultural, and academic values are allowed to develop.
As Deputy Chief of Police, I am proud of our State certified police officers, support staff, and civilian employees who have demonstrated a personal commitment to providing a professional and effective community oriented law enforcement agency. I encourage you to browse through our web site, which will provide you with information pertaining to safety programs, parking information, and other resources available here at the Alton Police Department.
I welcome your comments and suggestions. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
