Tracking: Both the Alton Police K-9 Units are trained in tracking. Tracking is a very important tool used to track suspects or lost people. A dog's nose is thousands of times more powerful then any human's. Dogs can sense odors at concentrations nearly 100 million times lower than humans can. This powerful nose gives the dog the ability to find someone by following their “scent” left behind.
